The TA5 4ft headroom range is very popular for transporting sheep, with the most popular models in the range being TA5 8x4ft headroom and the TA5 10x4ft headroom.
The TA5 10ft x 4ft headroom models from Ifor Williams are slightly wider than the P6 and P8 at 5ft, and feature wider side vents with flaps giving increased ventilation. With the low headroom and increased floor area, the wind resistance is minimised when towing, a bonus when travelling long distances. The twin axles provide a maximum gross weight of 2700kg. These trailers have the Ifor Williams axle beam and leaf sprung suspension, galvanised steel chassis, aluminium side panels and heat reflecting roof. The rear ramp is covered with grip face aluminium planking and is fitted with a ramp assistor. The TA5 livestock trailer includes aluminium ramp gates, durable pressure treated timber planking covered with aluminium treadplate flooring, front access door and receiver brackets for the optional cross division. Available in 8ft, 10ft, 12ft and 14ft body lengths, the TA5 4ft headroom models are fitted with a standard ramp.

Provided you are the registered owner of a trailer, you can obtain replacement coupling keys by contacting your nearest distributor with your trailer serial number. Unfortunately replacement keys for trailer doors are not available, and will require a new lock assembly.
For trailers that receive heavy, daily use (such as commercial or plant) it is recommended that a service is carried out once every 6 months or so. Where trailers receive less frequent or prolonged use an annual service is usually sufficient.
Properly serviced and maintained, an Ifor Williams trailer will provide many years of reliable service.
If your trailer is stolen then you should report it to the police and obtain a crime reference number. Ifor Williams Trailers Ltd operates a trailer registration database, by informing them that your trailer has been stolen, they will register it as stolen and will also inform TER, The National Plant and Equipment Register (see explanation below). This can assist in identifying owners of recovered stolen trailers.
TER - THE NATIONAL PLANT AND EQUIPMENT REGISTER
When you register your new Ifor Williams trailer it is automatically registered with TER (The National Plant and Equipment Register). Their mission is to combat plant theft and fraud in the UK and Europe. By registering ownership, both technical and marking details can be made available to international police forces through TER. All Ifor Williams Trailers include free registration to TER once your trailer is registered by your distributor.
Ifor Williams Trailers - Security
Each Ifor Williams trailer is fitted with an ID plate which has a unique serial number etched on it. Additionally, the drawbar has a different unique number cut through it, which is virtually impossible to alter without noticeably affecting the appearance of the numbers and galvanized finish.
Datatags are fitted as standard to all Ifor Williams Horsebox trailers for extra security and peace of mind. Datatag is Europe's leading electronic tagging system and was originally developed to combat theft in the UK motorcycle industry. Datatag transponders (tags) are miniature transmitters. These are hidden deep within the trailer during manufacture, and transmit a unique code that can only be read with special scanning guns. These are issued to Police and HM Customs free of charge. On recovery of a stolen trailer the identity of the trailer can be verified and the rightful owner contacted.
Our Customer Care department works closely with police forces Nationwide, educating them on how to identify stolen trailers. This has resulted in more stolen trailers being recovered and the original owners being identified.
Many of our customers customise their trailers with unique graphics so that if it is stolen, it can be easily identified.
Always keep a record of your trailer details so that if it is stolen, you will have the details to hand.
Chemical and/or abrasive cleaners should not be used as these could damage the coatings used to protect your trailer from corrosion, e.g. galvanising, powder coating, and plating.
Ideally your trailer will be fitted with a coupling lock and wheel clamp to deter thieves. However, your trailer should be secured to the requirements that your insurance company specifies as not following their guidance may invalidate your policy.
HOW TO FIND YOUR SERIAL NUMBER
Every trailer we manufacture is fitted with a type plate; this will have a unique serial number printed on it by multi-dot punching. The type plate is usually positioned on the trailer drawbar. There are some exceptions, such as Unbraked trailers, when the type plate will be attached to the front or rear panel of the trailer.
An example of a standard type plate is shown here. This example is printed with the full 17 digit VIN (Vehicle identification number). The last 6 or 7 digits represent the serial number depending on the age and model of your trailer (in this example 374538). Some models may be fitted with a slightly smaller plate, however the serial number will still be present and easily recognisable.
CHASSIS CODE
With the exception of Unbraked trailers, all trailers will also have a chassis code. This can be found cut into the trailer drawbar as illustrated in the picture.
